President Marie Miller brought meeting to order at 8 am and welcomed everyone.   6 members present.

Financial report – Amanda sent report as unable to attend meeting. Not much activity for April.

 

Upcoming event updates

  • Parkway Scholarship Presentation – May 15 – Parkway – 7 pm – Marie will make presentation to Lauren Stuckey
  • We had good feedback from Sierra – she enjoyed the day listening to interviews and would be willing to attend on behalf of the Chamber next year.
  • May 23rd – Chamber member event – Social Media for Businesses 6 – 8 pm

Community Days

  • Face Painting Sponsored by the Laurels of Shane Hill
    • Location: Festival of Arts – in Community Building
    • $1 fee – proceeds to Chamber Scholarship for Parkway students
  • Photo Booth Sponsored by Laura Putman Photograph
    • Laura to set up a vignette or booth for photos
    • $1 fee – proceeds to Chamber Scholarship for Parkway students

 

  • 2019 Fun Challenge – Leah gave update – letters went out 2 -3 weeks ago. Need to follow up with businesses for sponsored activities.   Leah will be on the Spectrum radio show for Nursing Home week and will talk about the Fun Challenge in the last few remaining minutes.

 

Old Business

    • Chamber Welcome Sign – South – in process – no time frame for completion
  • Bicentennial – Grand Ball planning – will take place July / August
  • Membership / visitors guide – will be updating late summer / early fall. Contact other entities to begin gathering content.
  • The web site will be updated late summer / early fall.
  • Chamber to purchase 2 – different banners for the Bicentennial using logo and maybe Veterans information. Need to know how many banners will be needed –   checked will need 16 for current area of each banner.
  • Nominations for Citizen of the Year / Business of the Year
  • Mercer County Leadership program – Chamber members interested should contact Lisa to be added to the list of thosand a person will be chosen with a random drawing.

  • Removing the phone list – the information is in the booklet.   No need to duplicate information at this time.
  • Update the Chamber membership booklet /Visitors Guide to be ready for 2020
  • May – Present Chamber Scholarship Award
  • May – 2nd Quarter chamber member event – May 23rd
  • June – Community Days involvement – Work with RSP – Challenge Course
  • July – Begin designs for the Bicentennial Banners – need 2 sets
  • August – Mercer County Leadership
  • August – 3rd Quarter chamber member event – Social Media – the next level
  • October – Chamber Banquet – (Citizen of the Year / Business of the Year) (4th quarter Chamber event)
  • November / December – Membership Drive 2020
