Meeting Minutes: March 9, 2017

March 9, 2017   The meeting was called to order on March 9th by President Mary Beougher at 8 am 7 members present.   February minutes and financial reports were read and approved.   The Community Days Car Show requested $25 to sponsor a trophy. All approved.   Received a Thank you from George Moore, who visited at the last meeting.   Directory – Marie has the updates and hopes to work on the directory next week. Our printer is ready to go.   It was suggested to call the directory a Visitors Guide and Business Directory  – putting the business information smaller underneath.  We will also add ‘take one’ on the top right corner so people know they are free. We are working on a page for the Shanes Crossing Subdivision and another page with Bicentennial information.   Fundraiser ideas – Will look into getting the dunk tank back for Community Days. We will need to have a parent release form so that students can participate in the dunk tank.  The kids enjoyed dunking their friends.   We also discussed a murder/mystery show to be held at the Community Building on February 10th.   Jamie to see if Mrs. Wagner would help with this project and use local talent instead of paying professionals.   We will be doing the beanfest but give it a different name and different look. It will be called the “Soup”er  Concert  in the Park to be held on October 8th.   We will check with New Horizons on the food stand.  Norm to check with Methodist ladies about desserts.  We will have several soups available.   We will invite Triad (Mike Bruns band) and ask the Parkway Musical department to sing a couple of songs to advertise their upcoming events.   We would open at 11.  Music to start at noon with Triad till 1 – have the musical numbers for about a ½ hour and let Mike wrap things up.  Would end at approx..  2 pm.   A shorter version of last years bean bake. We need to get flyers to Rockford Rec and invite their soccer teams and families to attend our event.   Nancy volunteered to attend the scholarship application interviews at Parkway. Meeting Minutes: February 9, 2017

February 10, 2017   The meeting was called to order on December 9th by President Mary Beougher  at 8 am 6 members and 1 guest were present.   Mr. George Moore introduced himself. He is running for the Celina Municipal Court Judge.    The current judge will be retiring.  The primary election will be held in May.  He has 5 point plan for a safer Mercer County.   1st time offenders – will be offered some education – may not go on permanent record. Harsher sentences for repeat offenders Evening court hours More technology within the court system Probation department   Thank you to Mr. Moore for attending and giving us some information.   December minutes were read along with January financial information. The Chamber agreed to donate $200 to the Lions Club for the Variety show to be held on March 24 & 25th.   We received the yearly statement for the Crime Awareness fund.   We have received all the funding for the Rockford Welcome Sign located on 118 North. The Village has been working on the base and the frame work.  The insert is here and we are waiting on the discs.  We will need some backer boards and some paint.  The Welcome Sign to the West will need some work as it’s leaning.   We discussed the Business Directory – there will be no date as we won’t be doing another one until our Bicentennial year in 2020.   Lisa to contact Marie to see if we can have an evening meeting  to get it all updated.  Mary has made contact with the printer and they are good to go.   The membership deadline was February 1st.  Mary will make one last attempt to contact those who were members last year to see if they are still interested.   Congratulation to Nancy Leighner – the Rockford Chamber Bright Star for 2016 !   Joyce Emans reported to Mary that she will no longer be doing the Christmas at the Park.   Thank you Joyce for your volunteer efforts in making the park so beautiful each year.  We are looking for an organization or school group that might want to continue the Christmas at the Park decorating.   There will be a welcome at the Community Building for Dr. Means.   The Chamber would like to be there to welcome him to the community.  We will take a ‘welcome bag’ and a...

Meeting Minutes: December 10, 2016

December 9, 2016   The meeting was called to order on December 8th by President Mary Beougher  at 8 am, with 5 members present.   A financial report was given. The general fund has a balance of $2252.98.  We are beginning to get 2017 membership renewals.  We have paid for the Welcome sign insert and need to pay for the discs yet.  They will be about $1000 and we have just over that in the sign fund, so we should be good.   A reminder that the 2017 Memberships are due by the end of February to be included in the Business Directory.   We decided to cancel the January meeting – lack of people showing up and we don’t know what the weather will bring.   Sock Hop – No funds yet.   BIG THANK YOU – to Joyce Emans and volunteers for decorating the park. We had a nice turn out for the Christmas at the Park.  Lights will be on each night from 6 – 10 pm.   We need some volunteers to help take decorations down in January !   December 11th – Blind Date will hold a Christmas concert at the Rockford Belle with proceeds going to the Parkway Ministerial Association.   December 15th – Colonial Nursing Center will be hosting an open house.  There will be children’s activities.               Meeting...

Meeting Minutes: October 10, 2016

November 10, 2016   The meeting was called to order by President Mary Beougher at 8 am, with 5 members present.   The lack of no one showing up for meetings is causing concern – discussed different reasons why and some ideas for meeting times next year. If members are reading the minutes and have a suggestion, please feel free to contact one of the Chamber officers.   Do we really need a Rockford Chamber ?   It would be our goal for next year to encourage each business to send a representative to our monthly meetings.  Meeting normally last 1 hour or less.   Maybe have evening meetings ?   The next meeting will be held on December 8th at 8 am – Village Hall.   The Chamber received a nice thank you from Mike Schumm.   Financial review – We have not received any funds from the Sock Hop. Lisa to check with Doug.   Update on the Welcome Sign.  Everything is coming along.  The location has been set and materials either purchased or ordered.  The insert should be here by the end of the month.    Agreed to donate $50 to the Parkway Drama Club for helping us out at the Chamber Banquet and the Beanfest.   Beanfest review – need to shorten event to about 2 pm. Mike Bruns and Parkway Musical is enough music .  Have chili or another soup along with desserts.   Alice in Wonderland – this Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 3 pm.   Christmas at the Park to be held on November 27th at 7 pm —  Flyer were sent to Chamber members yesterday.  Colonial to donate 100 cookies.  Subway to donate 100 cookies.  Mary to check with Leah at The Laurels for hot chocolate donation like last year. Lisa to check with Pastor Dave about closing prayer.    Nancy will check with Georgette and Jean to see if they can help serve cookies.  We will need to get napkins for the cookies and some cups for the hot chocolate.   Gave each of the members present a copy of the 2017 Business Directory to review. Meeting Minutes: September 8, 2016

September 9, 2016   Mary Beougher welcomed everyone to the September 8th meeting that was held at 8 am at the Rockford Village Hall.   BANQUET, BANQUET, BANQUET – need to get RSVP in by September 16th !   Lisa read the August meeting minutes and gave an update on the financials. Several of the organizations have paid the donation toward the discs for the Welcome Sign. We have sent a check in the amount of $2,000 as a down payment for the insert for the Welcome Sign to get production started.   We have not received the Sock Hop funds as yet.   BANQUET:  We will be decorating for the Chamber Banquet on Sunday – September 25th at 6 pm.   We need chamber members to help us set up and get everything ready for the Banquet on the 26th.    We will be decorating in a patriotic theme using blue and white table cloths and using the red, white and blue decorations that we have in storage.   It was suggested that we use the Leota Braun dishes as the park and Dan can get the church silverware.   Mary will talk to the Carry out.   BEANFEST:  We will be setting up the pavilion for the Beanfest on October 1st at 10 am.   Need volunteers please meet at 10 am to help move benches.  Chamber will need to provide the ketchup, salt, pepper.  Mary will check with Colonial on onions and corn bread.  Ralph has ordered 15 lbs ham and 15lbs of bacon to be used in the beans. This is event is rain or shine !   Mary to look into a Jan / Feb entertainment of dinner / mystery theatre show to be held at the Rockford Community Building. She will get us some dates to work with.  We would only sell 200 tickets.   CHRISTMAS AT THE PARK:   Need Volunteers to help begin decorating starting on October 15th from 10 am – noon every Saturday until the event on Sunday, November 27th.   2017 Chamber Membership will run from December – February. We want to begin to work on the directory again so that we can update members  first of March with the directory going to bring mid March.   We will have a party putting the directory together !   Need to continue with reminder emails at 1...

Meeting Minutes: August 11, 2016

August 11, 2016   Mary Beougher brought the meeting to order at 8 am at the Rockford Village Hall.   Sock Hop information   * Approx $870 profit after all bills paid. * We are selling leftover hot dogs and hamburger * Considering changing the date to late September * Consider getting High School cheerleaders and football players involved like in the past. * Next year – extra help to set up, more tents for the crowd with tables and chairs, less food- cook slower.   Chamber Banquet – September 26th   * Will talk to Rockford Carry Out about catering – getting quotes for pork chops, chicken or ribs * Considering music – maybe just background music instead of band.   Beanfest – October 2nd:   Christmas at the Park – November 27th   * Turning lights on at the end of the program – Grand Finale * Saturday – October 15th – start decorating 10 am – noon each Saturday.  Volunteers can go at 9 am to help set out everything to be done that day.   Upcoming event dates:   The Chamber Banquet – September 26th The Rockford Bean Bake – October 2nd Christmas at the Park – November 27th.     Meeting adjourned.        ...
