Meeting Minutes: October 12, 2017

Meeting began at 8:00 am on October 12, 2017 with 5 members.   Financial report – Balance $4274.17.   “Soup”er Concert in the Park – October 8th – Thank you to all who volunteered and participated.       Thank you to Blind Date Band and the Parkway Music department for National Anthem and selections from High School Musical. Not a very good turn out and didn’t cover expenses.   We have tried several different ideas and themes but community is not supporting the event.   We will no longer be having the event.   Chamber Banquet – October 23rd   Meal –   Rockford Carry Out Decorations – will come up with something Set up – Monday – October 23rd at 3 pm. – Need volunteers to help. Program schedule – MC – Jonathan Williams Blessing – Jeff Long   Bicentennial update by Barb Pedroza – Barn Quilts – 5 minutes   New Business will be the “entertainment” – Amy Lyons and Bob Ransbottom will talk about their businesses and how they got started.   Share their story.   Robin to do programs – will be getting her updated information   There will not be a Christmas at the Park this year. No Volunteer leadership.   Purpose of Chamber – support business community. We are not getting any support or additional volunteers to continue in the same manner year after year.  Chamber will continue to support the directory, the Welcome signs and the web site.   Our only income will be the yearly membership fees and we will need to be careful how we use funds.   May have a quarterly meetings in 2018?   8 programs will no longer be sponsored by the Chamber.  We will have to decide on the yearly scholarship… may continue but with a lesser amount.  The Chamber will remain a member of the NOACC so that businesses can still get the Anthem discount.   We will update the 2018 Membership form. – We will mail in November and the due date will be January 15th, 2018. After that the membership will cost $60.00.   The next Chamber meeting will be held on November 9th at 8 am at the Colonial Nursing Center with a FREE breakfast for members. Meeting Minutes: September 14, 2017

  Meeting began at 8:06 am on September 14th, 2017 with 5 members and 1 guest attending.   The financial report was given. Chamber balance is $4758.85.   An up coming expense will be the replacement discs on the 33 West Welcome Sign of $540 and postage for upcoming Chamber Banquet invitations.   The Business membership directory and visitors guide has been done. Thank you to Brand It Marketing for putting it together, Reynolds for printing, and Colonial Nursing Center – Activities department for stapling it together.     Thoughts on the next directory will be done in 2019 to highlight our Bicentennial year in 2020.   Event: “Soup”er Concert in the Park – October 8th   Triad and Parkway selections from “High School Musical” – flyers available Thank to you Robin Link for designing our flyer again this year !   New Horizons Community Church – hamburger / hot dog stand with chips and drinks available to purchase   Chamber Soups: Mike Bruns – Chili Ham and Bean – Potato – Community Health Professionals Veggie Soup – Colonial Nursing Chicken Noodle –   Spoons and Crackers to be donated by Subway   Need tables, extension cords, soup bowls – what else.   Dessert Cookies – donated by ??   Norm to contact Ralph Ritz who mentioned that he would help serving soup.   Tammy Cheek and Colonial Nursing mentioned they would help volunteer for setting up. Beginning at 10 am.     Event: Chamber Banquet – October 23rd   Meal – ? Decorations – ? – Need Volunteers to help set up on Sunday October 22nd. Invitations have been sent – RSVP early bird date – October 13th   Program schedule:   MC – ? Blessing – ? Entertainment selections from Parkway’s – “High School Musical” To begin at 6 pm –with meal beginning at 6:30 pm   New this year – Instead of a Speaker we will be introducing new businesses and doing ribbon cuttings if not already done. We will allow the new Chamber Businesses a couple of minutes to tell about their business… how they got started and some details.   Business can hand out brochures and/or other business information.   Jamie will still be involved with the Chamber, but may not be able to come to meetings. Meeting Minutes: August 10 , 2017

August 10, 2017   Mary Beougher opened the meeting at 8 am with 7 members present.   The Business Directory is done and sent to be printed. We will be getting 3,000 which will need stapled.   We will be having a staple party !   They should be done in time to hand out at our October events.   Need to pay the Brand It Marketing bill and we will have another bill for the new discs on the West Welcome Sign.   The sign at 118 North has been completed. Thank you to Village employees for helping us with the project.   We will be redoing the West Welcome Sign as it was leaning. We will be setting up like the 118 North sign with the concrete base.   We will look at some options to get the Bicentennial information on the Welcome Signs.   October 8th the Chamber will be sponsoring – “Soup”er concert in the park. We have Triad and the Parkway musical department for music. We have New Horizons Community Church youth group for the hamburger/hot dog stand.   We have Community Health Professionals – making Cheesy Potato Soup, Colonial – Vegetable soup, Need to check with Jamie about Subway, someone may be donating the Ham and Bean soups and we are asking someone else about Chili. After meeting Sandy Schaffner suggested Chicken Noodle soup and mentioned that the cheesy potato is a favorite ! We will have cookies for dessert.   Mary will contact Wendy’s for donation of bowls, cups, spoons.   We will ask volunteers to show up at 10 am to help get set up.   Mary will contact Robin about a flyer. We need to get the information to the Rockford Rec group so they can help pass along the invitation.   Chamber banquet – suggested we check dates with Leota Bruan and see if possible to combine events ?   Would be nice to see 2 organizations working together.   Meeting adjourned 9...

Meeting Minutes: July 13 , 2017

July 13, 2017   Mary Beougher opened the meeting at 8 am with 5 members present.     Members reviewed the Chamber business directory / visitors guide. Several items need to be changed. But looks good and almost ready to print ! Thank you to Brand It Marketing for putting it all together !   Colonial Nursing Center has invited us to have a meeting at their facilities. At this time, we don’t have enough members involved, but will consider in the fall.   Christmas at the Park – Joyce has retired from the leadership role. Anyone interested in heading up the project ?   We will ask the community. Jamie has some ideas of several people that might be interested.   We need to keep it simple !   Nancy Leighner interested in the Mercer County Leadership program.   Lisa to contact the Celina Chamber for information.   “Soup” er Concert in the Park – October 8th – Norm will be checking with Methodist ladies about desserts.   After meeting contact with Kim – Community Health Professionals – willing to help with a roaster of soup.   The meeting to be held on August 10th – will be discussions / planning of upcoming events…. “Soup” er Concert in the Park and the Chamber Banquet – both events scheduled in October. Meeting Minutes: June 8 , 2017

June 8, 2017   Mary Beoughter opened the meeting at  8 am  with 5 members present.   THANK YOU to our newest business owner, Amy Lyons of Tasty Blessings, for the complimentary samples this morning.    We are working on setting up a date and time for a Ribbon Cutting – July or August.   We welcomed Kim Heitkamp from Community Health Professionals to the meeting. They will be joining the chamber.   May meeting and finances were discussed.   The Parkway Music Boosters requested a donation towards The Larry Seibert Memorial Concert featuring the Lima Area Concert Band.  This will help with advertising the event scheduled for August 27th at the Parkway High School Auditorium at 3 pm.   Discussed several ways the Chamber can help promote event.   We will be finalizing the Chamber membership directory and going to print in July.   We discussed upcoming events:   “Soup”er Concert in the Park – October 8th with Triad and the Parkway High School  Musical for entertainment.  We will be working with some locals business for soup donations.    New Horizons will be having a food stand.   Need to start working out details at the next meeting.   * Need volunteers  – set up, clean up, serve soups *   Chamber Banquet – to be held on October 23rd – another event that needs volunteers for set up, clean up and organization.   Mercer County Leadership program application due in August.   Murder/mystery Dinner Theatre – will be held February 10th of next year.  Jamie is working on the event with Mrs. Wagnor and other volunteers.   Welcome Sign question – when will it be completed ??   The next Chamber meeting – July 13th at 8 am – Village Hall.     Meeting adjourned 9 am....

Meeting Minutes: April 13, 2017

April 13, 2017   The meeting began at 8 am  with 5 members present.   It was noted that Nancy Leighner will be the Chamber representative for the Parkway Scholarship interviews on April 20th.  Senior Awards night is May 17th. – Need to let Mary know –   No new information on the Dunk Tank for Community Days.   Chamber Banquet will be held on October 23rd.    We should have the previous Business of the Year and Citizens of the Year begin working on this years awards.   Jamie discussed some information with the murder/mystery dinner show that we are planning for February.  We decided on a Valentine’s Day theme.   The cost of the play will be under $100.  Jamie has several interested in volunteering to be in the show.  We will check with Carry Out on catering.   Will begin promotion on or before the Chamber Banquet.  Price of tickets will depend on the cost of the dinner.  We may work on some gift basket raffles between Thanksgiving and Christmas – raise awareness and make some additional money.   The Laurels may be able to donate some Valentine’s Day decorations they used previously.  We will encourage the guests to dress up for this ‘formal’ event.    Jamie is working to get some volunteer servers.  We discussed getting the drinks and the desserts donated to save money on the food.    Will need to sell pre sale tickets.  Jamie will have more information at the next meeting on MAY 11th !  Jamie will check with New Horizons on a Child Care night the same night as the murder/mystery show.  Win win for both groups.   “Soup”er Concert in the Park is scheduled for October 8th.    Triad will be performing along with the Parkway Musical group.   Nancy to check with the Methodist ladies about doing desserts.  Flyers to Rockford Rec.  We will work to get some funds to pay for soups.  Jamie will check with Subway to see if they can donate some potato soup.             Meeting adjourned  ...
