Council called to order by Mayor Amy Joseph on

Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 7:30 pm at the Rockford Village Hall.

Visitors to Address Council:

 

Todd McKee, Luke Stephenson, Luke Clouse representing Second Crossing Brew Company will be opening later this year.   Some of the plans include being opening 3 – 4 nights per week. Interested in partnering with community organizations with fundraisers on specific events. They only sell what they make. There will be 12-16 different brews with a variety of flavors. They will also have cream soda – a non-alcoholic drink and some iced coffee options. The will be music and TV – especially when the Buckeyes are playing. They will be working with local restaurants on some menu options – there will not be a kitchen on site.

Village Administrator’s Report – Jeff Long

 

Last week – John Deere mower blew up – 16 years old – received a quote for new with end of the year discount is cheaper than with the government pricing. Council asked about trade in value – will not be much but will ask.

 

Building at WWTP is up – need garage doors. Will be doing some yard work ourselves. The project is working out good and saved us 4 million.

 

We have a water tower leak – very small. We have inspector coming next week. Best case – we can patch and look for funding to build a new water tower as ours is almost 100 years old.

 

Veterans memorial area – we have broken ground and planning concrete next week.

 

Bicentennial committee looking for headquarters – downtown – to be the souvenir shop.   Would be open 1 or 2 days a week.

 

Trailer park – need to haul dirt and seed.

Motion Heitkamp to approve the monthly financial reports, supplemental appropriations to date, and additional purchase orders. Second Now. Young called for the question.

Budget vs Actual activity report, Bank reconciliation and comparison report for the water, sewer, and income tax.

Lisa and Jeff will attend the Budget Commission hearings on Wednesday at the Mercer County courthouse – 11 am.

 

Motion Pontsler for council approval for the Village of Rockford to work with the Ohio State Attorney General’s office with tax and miscellaneous collections as needed. Second Heitkamp. Now called for the question. Pontsler = y, Heitkamp = y, Now = y, Gehle = y, Young = y. Passed 5 yes.

Audit – 2017/2018 – Still have no definite dates or quote.   Sent email July 26th to inquire and they stated they will get back with us.

At the November General Election there will be a Mayor Seat and (2) Council seats on the ballot. Residents interested in public service would need to contact the Board of Elections and get paperwork filed by the August 7th at 4 pm deadline.
